200x wont start? update runs strong

ok i just got this 83 200x the other day it set for a long time was runing fine when parked. i cleaned the carb, changed the spark plug cleaned out the gas tank, cleaned the gas lines, cleaned the petcock, put fresh gas in it, its getn spark. its geting gas into the cylinder. compesions great. so im lost what could it be?

If you have spark and fuel the last thing to check is air. How is the condition of your air filter? Do you have an air leak somewhere? I have bought a couple trikes now that had a mouse nest in the airbox from sitting in a shed or outside so check that also.

If you put a little gas or starting fluid in the cylinder, will it fire then? Have you also played with how much choke and throttle you need to get it to start?

i have played with the choke gas push starrtd it nothing but i feel like an idiot im gona go check the intake boot from to the carb. air filter was well not all there mostly fell of u know how the old foam is metal inserts there i got one of a 200e im gona tryn see if i can use tell i can go get one for the x

yes it has a filter just not for a 200x its from a 200e just making it work tell tomaro

i got it to run for about 1 min twice in a roll of pouring gas in the cylinder. so now what?

So you're not getting gas to the carb. Double check the passages, jets etc in the carb, and make sure the petcock is turned on lol.

the petcock is on. i figured the carb would be clean enough after the ultrasonic clening

Make sure you can see through the jets. Sometimes they are so gummed up you just have to replace them. My guess is your pilot is blocked.

did u take the carb apart to clean it,thats a most.

yes every thing came apart for the ultrasonic cleaning becuse if not the ultrasonic cleaner can eat up orings and gasekets i havent closely looked at the jets to see if i can see threw them but i have a budy who built my oter x coming to see if he can get it runing it will run on starting fluid so i know it cant be very serious

Right that's a good sign. At least you've narrowed it down to a not getting fuel issue.

Take the carb back apart and run a piece of wire thru each hole in all of the jets, that might help out a bit.

well it runs my buddy tht knows his stuff came over n had it runing in 5 mins go figure he poked a wire threw the jets and it runs fine now ideals good and amasingly the harley davidson pipe really sounds ok.

Mustve had one of them plugged up just enough where it wouldnt run. Glad to hear it was a cheap and easy fix!!

ya 450 bucks for a bike that just need some carb cleaning and a new spark plug to start was a deal this thing is truly nice and perty fast i hadnt ever rode one thts stock n i cant belive it is but the guy swore it nevr had the motor apart for inything but some new clutches. only thing it needs is fork seals and are the rear shocks on these rebuildible?? and how hard is this to do i am defintly gona clean this bike up and hold on to it about how fast should a stock 200x with stock tire size stock gearing run?? cas its faster than my other 200x with a cam .50 ovr bore valve springs and exhaust. but its on stock compression could this posibly be boging it down trying to push the big cam and stiffer springs?
