hey guys,
here is a question for you guys who know yamaha.
85..ish yamaha tri moto 125...
starts and runs...idles...revs up in neutral sounds good in all ways...just put in new rings, 125 lbs.....
as soon as you put it in gear to take off it falls right on its face and almost dies ....quick put it back in neutral....rev it up again, put it in gear and go for about 20- feet and she dies again... i took the recoil off and there is no oil so i think that crank seal is good but it still acts like its sucking air...any help would be great..
thanks guys

is 125 lbs enough to run?

I had the exact same problem with my Irimoto 175 I would put it into gear it would bog for a few feet then go. The right crank seal was half out. Popped it back in fixed. Might want to take a look at the right seal.

Make sure the wheel bearings are in good shape and not keeping the trike from rolling smoothly. Also, make sure the brakes are free and working properly and not keeping the trike from rolling smoothly. Also, you may want to check the rear chain for the same reason. If the rear chain is all rusted up it can keep the trike from rolling smoothly. And while you are checking the rear chain, go ahead and take a look at the chain tensioner and make sure it is working properly. So basically, while the trike is in neutral, is it hard to push by hand? If it is, it could be a problem with any of the areas that I just mentioned. Check your clutch adjustment also. Even if these things are not causing your problem, it's a good idea to get in a habit of checking them regularly.
