got the 350X fired up today and so far i like it , tons of torque and easy to control but at idle its reving a little, i turned the idle needle all the way down and she still seems like the idle is high.. i did a carb rebuild and put a new plug on it , i am scratching my noggin trying to figure out whats going on as i never encountered this issue with any of my trikes..
she also backfires alot and sputters when i hit the gas but once i am riding it it goes away but as soon as i stop and release the throttle it backfires and dies..
:(
she is fun at WOT.

check the cable at the thumb throttle, maybe it needs to be adjusted there.. As far as the back firing and stuff, That one has me stumped
:edit: make sure there is no cracks in the intake as well

it could be the timing off a bit...i had this problem on a 200s idles high and sputters and back fires...and my timeing chain was stretched and had jumped a tooth

What color is your plug? If its backfiring like that it could be running a tad rich. Check your throttle slide, it may not be setting down on the idle screw all the way.

The Goat was right, i found out that the 2 bolts holding the intake boot were a little loose and had a dried up O-ring .. i removed the boot , cleaned it ,put a new O-ring , and that fixed it :) ... :w00t:
hey Goat, U the man!!!!! :)

UPDATE:
the air leak was fixed , but i still have some rough idle and no idle at all when i release the choke. if its not on choke its not running , and its idles high still.. i will be checking the timing later today .. i rode it a little and it feels better but still rough at idle oh and i also noticed it gets hot quick, is this normal??..

welcome to riding a 350X! YES they get hot quick!! it is an air cooled motor and 350cc aint little! i run high quality oil in my machines to help aid in the high temperatures i also had some back firing but it was from riding in 25 degree weather! Check that throttle slack download a manual are you familiar with how the butterfly and throttle body raise at the same time this may also be out of sync!

i checked the timing and its dead on, sometimes it will idle great and sometimes its just crap.. kinda frustrating and i am starting to think i have a bad or won out carb..

i did notice that the butterfly throttle valve is not all the way down in the "closed" position and its about 1.8 of an inch up from its closed position , is this normal or should i tinker with it??

Normal, whats the mixture screw set at? If its set to factory specs, adjust the rockers. Will it stay running off choke if you rev it alittle?

where in the world is the mixture screw?? i think its running fat because my plug is fouled , i replaced it with a new one and its still fouls up..

mixture screw is under the carb between the bowl and intake. you need to download a service manual., do a search and you find em on here for free
