Just got the engine rebuilt on friday. Took it out and fine tweaked it yesterday. Had the valves adjusted on the wrong stroke and it was ticking like crazy but ran ok. I thought the gearing was to tall but after re adjusting the valves on the proper stroke it opened it up big time.

12:1 piston, flatslide pumper carb, full exhaust, extended swinger,250r rear shock, works triple rate fronts, 400ex arms, web racing cam

It outruns my modded blaster(ported out,34mm carb, fmf fat pipe) gets it by about a bike length everytime on pavement or turf. Suspension is 500x better than my blaster too. Rides like a cadillac. lol

obviously wont touch my brothers 450 but feels just as nice landing jumps.

hmm yeah I wondered about that too.

Do all r shocks 3 and 4 wheelers have a reservoir? The guy told me it was off an r. After looking at it and looking at stock shocks on ebay it looks stock. Are the r shocks longer eye to eye? I might buy one (a real one) off ebay.

well first of all, R shocks all had linkage (i think...lol) im not to sure about the early 80s Rs but the rest do for sure.

they dont look like that one, thats for sure.

i have put R shocks on 250x in the past and it a bit of work since you need linkage mounts and a totaly custom swingarm.

what exactly does the linkage do? could you mount it without the linkage?

you could but it wont work well at all.

on some shocks the linkage makes the shock stiffer and on some it makes it softer.
