While we were out riding in PA this weekend the mounts holding on my DG Krome muffler simply snapped off and it fell off in the woods somewhere. Since we were unable to find it I have to figure out what to do. I've been in touch with DG and I seriously doubt that they are going to do anything for me. At this point I've got a DG chrome header and then that's it. I'm thinking I might want to try to fit a muffler from a newer 450 MX quad. I know that this has been done but I haven't found any posts on it in my searches. Anyone have any advice on fabbing the pipe from the header outlet to the muffler? How about advice on which of the OEM 450 mufflers flows the best? I'm not opposed to something that makes a little bit of noise but I don't want it to be as loud as my old DG muffler.

i like the yz 426-450 silencers

theyare aluminum and can be simply cut down if they are to quiet for you....mine is like 7-8''.

they also have a 2'' core with a 2'' inlet so you would have to get an addapter since your header should be 1 1/2''.

Hey John,, try and hold off on spending a ton of cash till I get out and walk that trail. That muffler has to be somewhere between that road and that lake!! I got some time tomorrow morning.. ;)

I'd hate to see you buy something then me find it. although it would look nice on my 350x!!! :D

Thanks Chris. I'm just kicking around ideas. I was never crazy about that DG anyway.

Swingin, that looks like something I'd be interested in doing. I believe there are spark arrestor inserts available for those too. What is the inlet end of those mufflers made of? Stainless?

Thanks!

Stainless wouldn't be a problem. I know my buddy has stainless rods for his TIG. I don't know if he's got titanium though. Besides, I don't want to have to get a titanium pipe to attach to it.

it cant be titanium (stock one at least) since i welded mine together with steel wire in my mig.

Cool. One of the auctions I saw gave me the impression that it was a stock muffler and the pipe was titanium. I'll keep watching for the right deal on one. I think I'll like the sound of one of the dirtbike ones better anyway. The stock 450 ATV exhausts are kinda wimpy sounding unless you mod them.

There was a bunch of them on ebay pretty cheap. I'll have to see if I can get some specs on them from one of the sellers.
