I hope you mean brake fluid not oil! If you took the brake lines off you will need to bleed the air out, just like is done on cars or trucks.

Be sure your useing Dot-3 or 4 fluid. Fill the reservior, pump the pedel several times, then crack the bleeder. Do this repeatedly until just fluid comes out, no air.Good luck.

i had 3 trikes with the same issue , i had to get a manual vaccum pump because the brake fliuid does not flow as it does on the front , not enough gravity i guess.. anyhoo, the other way i was able to get fluid in the caliper and the air out was to do the same style of bleedint the brakes like you do a car , i would pump it a few times, hold it in, put my finger on the bleeder hole (or tighten the bleeder bolt) , release the brake pedal and wait a few seconds for the master to suck in some fluid and repeat this procedure a few times till i get the results i want.. worked for me , but after a while i decided to get a vaccup pump to make it easier ( i am lazy)

It can take a long time on stubborn brakes pumpin the pedal. The vaccum pump is the way to go forsure, and a cheap one works fine.
