I have a 1984 honda atc70. was under power and died. It acted as if the kill switch was turned. Put new plug in and plug wire. Not sure on what else to change or if there is a way to check with volt meter. Any help would be great.

Is there spark?? Sounds like points are smoked or out of time?? Check for spark. If there is none, replace and regap points on stator plate. Be sure you check your plug wire from coil as well. Cut new end and retwist coil cap just to make sure. You can check continuity with a tester from engine to plug as well. Hope this helps.:lock:

My boy's '84 ATC70 did the same thing. $24 for a set of points and a condenser, an hour of work, and it started on the first pull.
