ATC250R headlights

the head and taillights on my trike do not work when i turn the switch on. what would be the first course of action to start figuring out what the problem is?

Check the switch first to see if there is voltage there, then do a systematic check...check the bulbs, then check if you have voltage going to the bulbs, then work your way back down the wires and check for voltage at all connections under the seat and work your way back to the wires out of the motor. If the bulbs are shot, check the regulator under the seat, on the left side of the frame (on an 85 and up), if it goes bad it will fry your bulbs in a hurry.

Mine does the same thing. I know the head and tail work fine and the stator is new... haven't gone deeper than that yet!
