View Full Version : POR 15 tank sealant screwed me!!!!!
I had coated my daughters 70 tank about 2 months ago. Today i went out to start it and it wouldnt. Pulled the plug and it was dry. Checked the gas and saw something floating. The entire liner had came apart. ugggggg. I wonder what would be the best way to remove the rest of it?

Did you prep the tank well Barry?? Did you treat it with Muriatic acid?? I wonder if that acid will dissolve what you can't get out of there?
I had one coated for me and a good amount of it all settled on the bottom....
Sounds like you got a complete coat, it just lifted?

That would be my guess on the best way to get it out. If you cant get a pressure washer try dumping paint thinner in it and let it sit awhile.
This is probly my 15th time to use this stuff, i never had a problem. I am thinking i might have put it on way to thick since it was such a small tank. Then it never got the chance to fully cure.

So you've used it 15 times with no problem, but think you put it on too thick and denied it enough cure time, and title your thread "POR-15 screwed me?" nice.

I think he just felt let down because he did it the same way he always did.... and that way normally worked fine.
i guess i need to change my title, when i first posted i thought i got a bad batch, but the more i am think of it, the more i think it was too thick.

I've used methelethelkeytone(paint stripper). BE CAREFULL! Use gloves and goggles!!Menards, Ace hardware has it. I used it on Kreem and not Por-15, they might be different type of coating. Might call them and ask what they suggest? I use KBS tank sealant now. Beets
