I've tried this before with no replies. I really, really need to figure out the part number for the UNI filter that fits inside of the UFO airbox. It's roughly 10" in diameter, and 2" thick. It's a dual stage filter, meaning it is essentially 2 filters to make one. I have contacted UFO, only to be informed they are a different company with the same name. I have contacted UNI twice only to be ignored both times.

If you know someone who has one of these UFO airboxes, or knows what filter may work inside... Help a brother out. Its a beautiful airbox.. but practically worthless without a filter.

Thanks guys,

Why don't you get a universal foam and then cut and glue to fit?

Yeah, I just noticed that they sell the pieces on their website. I also sent them another e-mail today asking questions. I find it hard to believe that somewhere these people don't hold on to important information like this. Hell, I have told them twice I would buy 10 just to get one.

How would you glue the pieces together? What would you use to do that, and make it stick for any length of time?

how about an 83 or earlier kx250 filter? or do you know if this filter was made for UFO specifically for this airbox? sometimes manufacturers use filters that were currently available for other machines. I dunno, just a shot in the dark. HH

Yes, I did think about that. But the color of the original filter was yellow for the inside filter and red for the outer filter. I just assumed it was a UNI filter, I guess there is a chance that it wasn't.

i made a filter for a 73 f7 175 out of the uni bulk foam. used phliobond contact cement to hold the ends together. think thats how its spelt. it worked really well, and the bond was stronger then i thought. the foam would tear before the cement let go.

I've been looking at several oem filter setups. If you have seen any oem filter types that are approximately 10-11" in diameter, and 2-2.5" thick let me know. It would have a lip around the inside that holds the air filter cage inside of it.

It makes sense that UFO would use an existing air filter that was larger than the tecate but still a stock oem filter.

Looking on bikebandit a 1986 or 1987 KX125 air filter looks like it might work. If anyone has one of these kx125's and could measure your air filter for me it would be much appreciated.

Thanks guys,

Lets get it together, if someone knows DC Plastics, point them out to the pictures and see if they can do it. I have more pictures from all angles. If they say they can I'll send it to them.

So, I'm confused. Just exactly WHAT do you have 9 of, hangin low? Do you have 9 Can am air filters, or 9 UFO air boxes? Or did you just throw up a serious body anomaly that only you would share with noone?

Thanks for the info... :D

Hell yeah, Thanks much to you Tecate kid!! You were right on.. In the bottom picture I put in the first post you can see a black edged metal spacer type thing. It actually comes in the UNI Filter for the 83-87 Can am motorcycles.

The part number is NU-7122-ST UNI Filter..

You can thank me this year by coming to Trikefest and sharing a beer or two. (or 24!) Raffa seems to like to sponge all of my beer.
