View Full Version : A Couple Question About My 200m

The first thing I'm wondering is what will happen if I continue to run my 200m with worn chain and sprockets. I know if they get wore bad enough, the chain will start slipping on the sprockets, but if I keep the chain tight is there any chance the chain will come off and bust up the engine case? It is a 200e motor in it if that makes much of a difference.
The second question I have is about the 200e motor I have in my 200m, I want to know the year of it. The number off the motor is TB0SE-502066.
Any help would be nice.

If you can still tighten your chain you should be good, unless the teeth on your sprockets are twisted, or are pointy, idk if the 200E had a case saver like the 200s does, but if it does use it. As for the year of your engine I believe the 200E was only made in 83.

Here is what my rear sprocket looks like http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/showthread.php?t=94972
I haven't got a picture of the front sprocket because it is hidden by the subtrans.
I have a complete bottom end from a 200e, so if my chain jumps off and busts the case, I have the parts to fix it.
I know the 200e was made in '82 and '83.

I don't think you will have that issue of the chain falling off if it's tight... Here's what you can do though, after you get a new set of sprockets and chain, you could take that old sprocket and rig it up to a weed whacker and cut some trees down:lol:,, looks like a nasty saw blade

If the chain / sprockets are wore too bad they can cause big problems. Common sence says that it's a heck of a lot cheaper and easier to replace the chain and sprockets now, rather than having to change case / bottom ends later.

I might even have a good used sprocket. The bad part is shipping might be costly.

I use my old sprocket and a weed whacker and make a table saw.

I can get a good deal on a rear sprocket, but the front is exspensive because it takes a different one than any other 200 because of the sub tranny, but a chain bought localy is only about $20.

I'm with Howdy, if they are bad and you know they are bad and might cause alot of damage. Then why take a chance? Even though you have extra parts laying around, you bust the one that is on there now, then you have no extras. If your 2 miles into the woods or wherever and the chain comes off and goes up into the case and smashes into the flywheel area, the oil will run out and you will be walking home, not fun. Howdy, what exactly is this "common sense" that you are speaking of?:beer

My uncle has an '84 200m, and his chain and sprockets are so bad that if he hit the gas realy hard, the chain will slip on the sprockets, and his chain has never come off.

I think I'll run it the way it is until I find a good deal on a front sprocket, unless the chain goes through the case, then I'll fix it before driving again to save my last case.

I'm thinking now that if I can find a cheap front sprocket I'll buy it and a rear sprocket and replace them, but until then I'll run my worn out sprockets until they start to slip, or the chain goes through my case. Does anyone know where I can find a cheap front sprocket, or has a good one that they will sell me??? The cheapest I can find now it $40.00 CDN.
