I have an 85 250r and the clutch does not release all the way. I have a feeling the basket is grooved. Does anyone have a clutch basket and what years can I get a basket from. Will the baskets from the trx fit. Also does anyone have pipe mounts they want to sell. Also I want to get rid of the clutch handle with the parking brake cable. What clutch handle are you guys running and do I have to get a block off plate for the caliper. Any pics of the plate or the clutch handles will help.

take a flat file, and file down the grooves on each side of the basket ear's
ONLY till you hit the bottom of the grooves.

I don't recommend filing the basket, it will temporary solve the problem. It makes a wider gap and more room for the plates to "wiggle", it will return badly grooved again. The better choice, if you can afford the $200, would be a hinson or other aftermarket basket, that will solve the problem for another 20 years. Also, the inner basket could be grooved from the metal plates, doing the same thing. Take it apart and asses what you have. I'd bite the bullet now and get a aftermarket basket and be done.

I dont really have very much money. I just recently go laid off of work. I will probably file it for now and try to save up some money for a new basket. Are the trx 250r baskets the same.

There is some info you need to be aware of before you drop a TRX basket on the ATC trike motor.
Here is a link explaining the problems.
