I have an 85 tecate, and just got a stock 88 trx250r flat slide carb to put on it. What would be a good starting point for the main jet size? Should I just put it on, see if it runs, and read the plug from there??

... whats the size of the '88R carb (mm's) I think its a 34mm OS Kehin? - if its bigger than the stock '85 T3's, I would make sure at the very least, you dont use the same size main that your T3 uses. You are pushing more air and you'll lean it out. Do you have and after market exhaust on that Tecate of yours?. Another wrench that I'll through into the works is - did the '88R have an aftermarket pipe on it?.

Its a 36mm pwk keihin, the stock tecate one is 34mm. I am using the stock exhaust for now, not sure if the R it came off of had an aftermarket exhaust on it or not :?: .
Thanks,
Sean

that should work, just play with different jets and combinations to make it scream...it will tell you when it is ready
