I started up a similar post yesterday but it was accidently deleted due too my sloppy hand's and hitting wrong key's- so here we go again,LOL.This is a subject that has really peaked my interest here of late ,and I was wondering what you all would do if you were too build the ultimate PitTrike.I remember just a few year's ago a little ATC 70 was just a little ATC 70,but now day's it seem's to be the big thing & everybody's gotta have one or does have one or two or a dozen of 'em,LOL.
Now here's what interest me the most : If you were to build the ultimate PitTrike out of a ATC 70 ,how would you go about doing it ? Would you have suspension? How about Brake's? Would you use the stock Chasis? Would you use a Chinese or Honda motor? Electric-Pull or Kick Start? Fenders? What Color? Oh' how about Tire's and Wheel's? Bling-Bling? Would you even use a 70cc motor or Mod the frame to fit Bigger Motor's? And whatever else you can think of,and to the couple replies I had yesterday before I bumped the thread ,repost if you can - I doo appologize>>>
Anyway's I'm sure you all have great idea's and I think it would be a pretty neat subject .After all I think after last year's TF were gonna see a waaaay Bigger turnout of 70's this year.Let's see or hear of your Bling-Bling Ideas and or Mod's / Custom's you guy's already got going and how you would build the ultimate PitTrike??? So let's talk PitTrike's!!!

Hey Roger,
my 70 im going to be building will have the followin-
Turf tamer tires
stock chassis
160 motor with 4 speed man and elec start and reverse
yellow plastic
black rims
black tank
black seat
high rise bars
and some trick billet
(remake of the banana just to make a smaller banana!)

You gonna run beadlock's on the baby Banana too, sound's like alot of power at the wheel's ,don't wanna spin the tire off the rim  I can't wait too see it in action on the track......

My ultimate 70cc PITTRIKE would be:
suspension
tiny tires on rear - stock up front
Manual
BIG in size cause I am big - maybe stretched out a bit
Stock tank; 85 model is my favorite
brakes - stock drums are fine for a 70
No real preference on motor for me - Chinese for a NEW one with E start and such - or traditional ATC70 is good too!
I am going with a different school of thought for my "70 racer" though. I've found that I can not get comfy on a 70 for flat tracking - so I am basing one on a 110 - to be seen at TF I hope
(Roger - Hope I post it the correct way this time ;) )

I would love to run a full suspension set up inveted forks up front, and possibly a disc brake set up. As for the rear like kintore said turf tamers out back. Motor wise I would like to put in a cr60 or cr80 motor. Tist throtle and some billet parts like a billet levers, shifter and brake resvior cap, etc....For the color scheme I'd like to have a red frame white plastics and a blue seat, with the pipe chromed. And I'm sure there some other trick parts that could be on it.

Tim if this is what I'm doing for ya you'll be golden, and LOL you posted correct ..
Custom 200 how would you go about running invert's and hydraulic brake's on the front? Sound's Bad arse!!!

just a question what would be classified as a "pit bike/trike" persay? what would it have to have and does it have a purpose or just to see how much stuff you can do to a 70.

I'm keeping mine as stock looking as possible. It will have an all Honda engine 3rd oversize bore on stock 70 cylinder. I had a 74 and an 85 in the past and they were lots of fun but a little short and my knees were always in the way so I added a few inches to mine. I may add some blocks under the risers to get the handlebars up a little too. I just want it to be dependable and comfortable. I need to update my build thread. Pics.

I would just start with a CRF 50 and put a big bore kit on it then add the Xtreme swing arm and rear fenders from the Typhoon 4 wheeler and get one of the big wheel triple tree setups and a fat front tire. Pretty much a bolt together set-up.

Dude Daddio, more pics of that flat head roadster in the open forum STAT
For me, the ultimate ATC70 would really, be about anything the Australian's crank out. Mart's lay down 250R. The all aluminum custom framed one (I think that was his too) greenhuman's laydown 200x motor, I'd go for anything that those crazy guys would crank out :)

Has to have suspension.
Like to go with inverted forks.
The bigger the engine, you will want disc brakes.
I am lazy so I like electric atart.
Manual is nice ....but to bust around the pits and the yard Semi-auto would be better.
Wild colors!!!!
Here is my first one, 2 more in the works

Already got one.
Specs are.
Stomp 150 usds.
Renthal bars
110cc loncin engine (semi auto)
snorkel kit, with extended breathers and various waterproofing mods.
modified to take pitbike plastics,
high rise pitbike seat
added twin pot hydraulic front brake system, plenty of stopping power.
ooracing throttle etc.
It's a good trike, just needs a fresh set of plastics.

Well what I was thinking for the trx70 before all my funds disappeared applies to this pit bike thing as well
slightly extended width wise for added stability.
trimmed down fullsize bars, rised. running all 450 controls
20in scorchers with the largest rim size I can fit.
either a large bore lifan or built up honda engine... all available new of course.
it'd have to be kick start. I hate pullstarts with no decomp...always snaps your hand when it's cold out.
I was gonna go silvervein frame with white plastics...then black trim
unfortunately...no cash these days.
If I chose to base it off of the trx90 I was gonna go with a crf230 powerplant.
It isn't fun unless it's scary.

Suspension of course. Disc brakes front and rear. Currently a 125 lifan with the pull start conversion, dream engine being a laydown 200x, but they seem to be in lockdown from the land down under. LOL Tiger 500 paint scheme with white frame, tank and fenders and red seat. Small rear tires and stock front on polished aluminum rims and wide wheel spacers. Front and rear fenders fiberglass. Aftermarket forks. Almost a reality. Then there is the "old school racer"...

I've been working on one of my own for a while. Here's about where it is:

It's a little further along at this point but I think the 70 motor is going to come out and be replaced with something bigger in the near future. I picked up a 125M that I was going to keep around to play on but it needs a bunch of little things so I think that motor is going to end up in my 70 in the very near future. Once that's bolted in I think I'll be motivated to get off my arse and finish my 70 within a few weeks. Well, maybe not the paint on the tank but the rest of it.

id convert a kx60 to a trike, no fourstroke can touch a 6spd 2stroke without dumping too much money into it. i see guys spend 5000$ on crf 50s and klx110s just to get them up to par with the little stock kx. check one out man they are unreal for there size!

All these bikes are awesome. But I ask myself.........self.......at what point is an ATC70 not really a 70 anymore? Is it when you put suspension on it? Is it when you put a 250R laydown motor in it? Does it just have to have a 70 gas tank on it to be considered a 70? I would love to hear your opinions on that.
To me putting a bigger motor in the same death trap of a suspension is crazy, and worthy of being considered a lunatic. Something I would personally strive for. But the awesome work of putting a suspension, and making it all look beautiful is worthy in it's own right.
The Aussies, lay down 250R motor is probably the craziest thing. It's like puttin a nitro drag motor in a Chevy metro.
Oh, BTW Billy, I like your flat tracker, and I photo shopped some graphics on the shrouds, thought it would tie in the black with the red a bit.

I don't think it really matters what you do to it, as long as its in a 70 fram its still a 70 to me, but if I were to do it I would keep it without rear suspension, possibley have suspended forks, slap some kind of engine under 200cc (just ever so slightly), and keep the cosmetics pretty much stock. Just my $.02.

the answer to that question has been in argued for many years, lol.:wondering  There is no answer. Some say that when you add suspension its not a 70, but... some of use are running aftermarket suspension frames made in the 80's for ATC70s for youth class racing. Swapping in a aftermarket non-Honda engine , but is based after the Honda engine... I don't know. I concider mine a "custom" ATC70. thats is my best guess, lol
I LIKE THEM ALL, Honda frame or not!!!!

That's why I started this thread as 70 Pittrike, not ATC 70 Pittrike... You have to use something as a base to start a build and 70's seem to be the big and popular machine for customizing and modding in the trike community ,similar to the crf 50's and 70's we're seeing nowaday's..I don't see any need to diagnose if it is or is'nt an ATC 70,I just wanna see how you guy's would build the ultimate PitTrike, and from what you guy's have been posting there's a variety of them for sure..

whats up with the tri zinger 60 and suzuki 50? therre 2stroke so im guessing they gotta be faster than the 70? if they aint a port job/head mods would make them for sure. my neighbor told me he had the suzuki and you can make it a 2speed tranny some how?

To have a trick trizinger, it won't have many stock parts on it either. I have seen pics of a suspension trizinger, which is way cool in my book. There are trizingers that displace over 100ccs! It just depends on how crazy you are on what you are building. The zinger is a single speed centrifugal clutch machine. There are ways to make it better, some easier than others. There were way more 70s made and way more aftermarket parts too. There were a few trick parts made for the zinger, but they are pretty much super rare nowadays. Big bore and stroker kits for the zinger for one. Different aftermarket exhausts for another. Most people who modded zingers, were on there own compared to what was and is available for a honda 70. Heck don't get me started. I've personally seen some 70s from mild to wild. I have 2 different suspension 70s and I had a blue holiday 70. I've even had a blue nos front fender. My PK suspension 70 is stock with an xl70 engine in it sitting in my living room. My A+ suspension 70 is getting a bunch of little things repaired on it like cracked engine mounts and cracked grabbar mounts reapaired as it had a trx70 rear rack on it at one time. Also Disc brakes are being added to my suspension 70 front and rear. So there is alot that can be done. There are threats of having my PK suspension frame copied. Board members have made trikes from xl70 frames. It just depends on how handy or imaginative or how deep your pockets are as to what you can have. A member on here cut and rewelded an atc250r engine together so he can have a laydown engine for an atc70! There is a board member who has built a laydown 200x engine for a 70! I've seen a video on youtube of an atc70 with a twin cylinder suzuki engine I believe it was. So the sky is the limit. But the stock hardtail frame is a big limiting factor as to what you can do. But lots of people mod the crap out of the stock frame by adding big cc aftermarket engines. Just have fun whatever you do and be careful. The little 70 frames have a habit of bending.
