Well this weekend i plan on doing a COMPLETE oil change on that 225. I want to change the oil filter because i don't think it has been changed since '85. I heard someone say its behind the little plate with three bolts holding it on by the foot brake for the rear brake. Is this correct?

I also want to know if i could put some carb cleaner or some sort or cleaner in my gas to clean the gas system out. My engine will tick as if i cut the fuel off while driving for a second and then it will be fine for a few minutes. Could this be as simple as a dirty petcock filter? If so how to i remove this?

http://www.3wheelerworld.com/SMYamaha.shtml They have a maunal that shows you where it is. Go through the carb. Pretty sure the petcock is held on by two bolts. take it off, clean the filters and the small bowl that unthreads at the bottom. Putting carb cleaner won't do the job just by putting it in the gas.

Yes the oil filter is located where you described it. All three bolts are different lenghts, so watch before reassembly.
