has anyone put a tecate 4 axle on a 86 tecate successfully? i just aquired an aftermarket t4 axle, and hopefully i'll get it on my 86 t3. its 5 inches longer than the t3 axle. i don't know what kind of axle it is, but must be a durablue. i was going to use a durablue 86 lt250r axle, but this t4 axle is longer than the lt's.

looks like i may have to cut the splines longer or make up spacers. the t4 bearing carrier must be wider than the t3's. i have a t4, but don't feel like tearing the backend all apart!

Well, I bet you are capable of pulling it off. You ever get that LT250R shock on there?

No one has ever posted a picture of actually doing it. But some one did post that it was possible. See below. The thread was mysteriously deleted.

AS for the 86+87 you can use a tecate 4 axle.

I have been keep this under my hat for alittle while, after that ordeal with the decals I swore I'd never help this stite again.I give you 1 more chance.

there are 2 things you need to know.

first: you can only use the eliminator axles.the tecate 4 is shorter then the tecate 3.so a plus 4 is only going to be +2 or stock.

second: you must use a rad lock nut there is not enough threads for double nuts.

THANKS TRIZTUNES!!!!!!

i never tried a lt250r shock. have to be a 85-90 lt shock. i did try a lt500r shock, its a bit too long, won't work. not sure about a lt250. you would need a longer rezzie hose.

i will get that t4 axle on the t3. i'm waiting on a t3 rear brake hub, so i can line everything up. it still may be to one side about an inch. i don't think i'll notce it

why not ditch the oddball parts all together and put a honda carrier on that thing? After watching my buddies with round carriers adjust their chains I never want to see a suzuki or kawasaki adjuster again...

The next big question I had about the setup was what brake and sprocket hubs do you use? T3 or T4?

I thought you were the one that was going to try an LT250r shock. I was wrong.

I saw a thread where someone put a banshee shock on an LT250r. People here have put a banshee shock on a T3. So the Lt should work too. Strap the rezzie to the dog bone like on the LT.

i got it to work. takes some work. you need to cut the sprocket side splines about 5/8 ths longer. cut a new snap ring groove, or make a spacer to be able to use the original snap ring groove. and make spacers to get the wheel hubs even on the ends. because after you cut the splines it throws the center of the axle off about 3/4 of an inch, the spacers fix it. you don't need to use a rad lock nut, stock nuts will work. rad nut just makes it look fancy.

this is a t4 axle, with all 86 tecate 3 parts. everything fits good.

this axle makes it about 3 inches longer on each end than the stock axle.

if anyone wants to get a tecate rad lock nut, it takes about a month to get. they don't stock them.

did it with a dremel tool and a cut off wheel. i just followed the original splines. once they were all cut, i put dychem layout fluid on them and kept test fitting the hub till it fit snug. the hub fits tighter on my new splines than the originals.
