Completed the replacement of crank bearing and got everything back together without any complications. My only concern is that mycrank does not turn as easily as it did before the new bearings and seals. Is this normal for the crank to not turn as easily because of the new parts. Also I lubed the bearings before I sealed it up with engine assembly lube. i can turn the crank easily but it just does not feel like it did before. Any help out there?

Give the transmission side of the crank a nice solid whack with a brass or lead hammer. If you dont have one, get a piece of aluminum and hold it between the end o the crank and a ball pien hammer when you hit it.

sounds like the main bearings aren't seated all the way. it should turn free.

i ran an engine like that a few years back, that i didn't seat the bearings, well the main bearings smoked in about an hour. now i always make sure the bearings are seated, never had another problem.

this is exactly why I dont put the crank seals in till after!! ^^ just messin cuz we just had this conversation...

this is when you could heat both inner races(crank bearings) at the same time and use a rubber, lead,deadblow,Press,,,2x4,,ect or like billy said with something soft...brass.. alum.

and center it with a few blows till it spins freely and has a equal gap on each side of the crank... assembly lube and then... only then.. install the seals.

i just don't like hitting the crank. my luck i'll screw up the threads. i would also worry about the crank coming out of true. thats why i use a press to put the bearings in, you know for sure there in all the way. then you don't have to screw around with it after. we all have our own ways of doing things
