Just purchased a 1987 350x sight unseen. Was wondering if anybody knows if the 85/86 350x parts will fit? I will be picking it up on Saturday, and I know it needs a front fender, and a kill switch.

if you actually have an 87...I'll dip my man parts in honey and put them in an ant pile.

to say they are rare is a complete understatement. Other than a brochure...it's never been seen.

can you get pics before saturday and the vin from the current owner? 87 would be an "H" for the 10th digit, i think?

the last few numbers are the order it came off the assembly line, no big deal unless you got number 000001 or something. i, like many here, will have to see the pics. Welcome to the board

OK fair enough, I found it on line, and had my dad go look at it because it was close to where he lives. he got the vin number for me. Can't wait untill Satrday comes- I kind of have some doubt, but it sure would be nice. I'll get some pics up after the long weekend.

You are in CANADA and thats the only way I see this possible.

There are little to NO changes from 86 to 87 but if it'd a true 87 it would honestly be worth ALLOT of $$ to a collector.

But, it's been a 10 year plus hunt for me and not one 250R or 350X to speak of so GOOD LUCK CHUCK :D

:

I agree,

Canadian courts decision on lawsuits alway ended up in a rider error verdict....the lieniency of Canadian courts always came down on the side of the manufacturers

this is why the belief has came to many that if they do exist...Chances are better you'll find them up North

The H is promising. The 87 at the end doesn't really mean much as far as year goes.

It's still cool and we still wanna see pics but why ride him about the friggin year. Some of you guys need to put things in perspective because you look like jerks, and discourage people from posting here. You should get some time off for your remarks:banned:

Myles,

87 or not. Threads like this always pop up on here. People swearing its a in a crate 350x and end up being a beat 200m. Not saying they are not out there. Also people like to get the years messed up. Yeah I have a 1983 kxt tecate. Or a 1985 trx 250r. I wish people would keep there mouth shut unless you have proof.
Great to have new people comming on here. Ill bet there has been 100 different topics about this. Weather the 250r or 350x. And since the 88 big red came along you never know, for all you trikers who think they know everything about trikes.
We need proof.

All right something positive and relevant. Thank you! With the above post maybe this new member will stick around long enough for you guys to see the pictures. I know that not all of you are flaming this guy and we all may have our doubts in his claims, but dangit respect his thread or get out of it and ignore it like you should. I am tired of people being treated like this around here.
I for one am gonna stop crapping in this guys thread. I too have violated it by dealing with other issues off topic.

Myles,
Sorry for taking this thread off of it's intended course. People are being negative and doubtfull because what you are claiming to be buying is considered around here to be a myth. Many have made simular claims in the past misleading people. You may post your pictures as proof and some people will still not believe you no matter what.
Just be happy with whatever it is you bring home on Sat. If it is an '87 350x than be smart with it. It would be a highly valued piece. Don't reveal any more information about it untill it's in your possesion because some people will try to cheat you out of it. Good luck and please give the good members of this forum a chance. Once again :welcome:

I've seen a lot of people selling 3 wheeler in Canada telling in there ads they have a 87,88 or 89 model. I've see quite a few 1988 Yamaha YTM-200E or 89 Honda 200X for sale. People don't know what they have. One time I called a guy that had a 1988 YTM-200E for sale. I tell him '' Hey they stopped making this model in 85.'' And he answer me '' No, No, it is a true 88 I have. And he was asking 2000$.

It's obvious that it got a bit out of hand.

Unfortunately, I think quite a few people are disgusted that not one 87 250R or 350X have ever been proved, like Bigfoot.......

Many of us are skeptics at this point, it's no reason to beat him up either. Then again, the post said "pics Saturday"? At least an update would be nice :D

Honestly, some of you guys have to grow a little skin. I see it time and time again. This board has nothing to do with me wanting a 3wheeler. It's a great resource but it's not my determining factor towards owning a trike.

Yes, he's a new member. And it's very easy to come back on board and say "yep it was an 85 after all" and move on. I honestly don't even know this persons user name in this thread unless I look........

Do I agree with everyone? do they with me? Of course not but I'm not gonna be run off either.

I know you can't let people you really don't know get under your skin over the internet but some of those guys took it a little to far and since this guy is brand new here it might be enough for him to think he doesn't want to deal with all this and never come back. He could be a person who, in the future, could get some cool parts and make good deals on them to boardies for all we know. I just think a couple of the guys need to reel in the ego's a little bit. That's all. I also understand the frustration about the 87's from the other perspective as well but I'm not going to flame a brand new person because he was mislead by an add and admitted he wasn't sure about it.

One thing we can still look foreward to, is he said he'd give us an update "after the long weekend" so we probably won't see any pics until tomorrow I assume. I just hope he actually found one. I haven't given up hope.:beer

Yeah but i don't think that is the issue. I just try to put myself in his shoes. If I was brand new to the site and 3 wheelers and didn't know much about them, and if i started a thread to express my excitement about getting what I thought was a cool trike, and I was treated like that, i might be inclined to say forget this and not come back. I know people are being sarcastic and having fun with it and some are frustrated. But he is brand new. He doesn't know that most likely. I'm just taking that angle to look at it. God knows I've had my fair share of ribbing in the past. lol

I am not looking to stir up trouble - just let me play devil's advocate for a moment if I may.

Before I do - Welcome to 3WW. Sorry about the witch hunt but people get a little "up tight" about all these false positives on the 87 model year Rs and Xs myself included.

Now I would like to know why you said it had an H as the 10th digit (making it an 87 model year if it was true) when someone asked you - since it is an 86 - it would have a G. What was the deal with this? Is the 10th letter an H or was it a lie - something you said because you were "sure it was an 87" before you even saw it?

This is your reply
the tenth digit is an H and the last two digits are 87

This is what starts which hunts - also that is not a good way to start your journey at 3WW - with a lie.............

Maybe you can clear the air and make some people feel a little better about this. I for one will not hold it against you - I am just wondering what would make someone do this.

packhamstruck posted pics of an 87 350x a few years ago and just like myles hes from Ontario Canada

http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/showthread.php?t=24897

I realize that this may indeed re-open a big can of whoop-ass, but I felt this thread and the above thread deserve some closure and I think we can finally deliver that!

Tapper and I have ridden regularly with Myles over the past season and up until today we completely forgot about this thread and his "87 350X".

A discussion just after lunch (during our Ganny Ride! (http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php?118931-Ganaraska-Forest-Run-September-25th)) led me back to this thread, and the above quoted thread, and I wanted to confirm that Myles does indeed have packhamstruck's old ATC. Here is a clip of my helmetcam footage from this afternoon just after lunch - sorry for the vid quality, i wasn't sure exactly where it was pointing but I include this video to show everyone that this is indeed packhamstruck's old trike:

Watch In High Def!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ku0kollIhqE

Myles didn't want to get "jumped on" again so didn't want to step near this thread which is why it never went anywhere - but if there is anything anybody wants from this trike (for example in the above quoted thread someone wanted a stamp from the engine casing or something) I'm sure we can get it.

Reading packhamstruck's thread sure does indicate foul business, but I think we should once and for all clear things up!!

I would like to know if it truelly is an '87. I only looked at it for a minute, but the tag does state '87. The rivets that hold the plate on seem to be oem, but the plate looks different from the '86. I would like to run the vins on the motor, hopefully it is the original motor to clear this up. It's strange that the ministry says that it's registered as an '86 and '87.

Yah, we are lucky and have a couple areas in Ontario where it's completely legal to ride on the side of the road right into town etc. And yes, we were riding trails in the morning - then rode right into town for lunch then back to the trails in the afternoon.

Providing you ride in town with respect (low rpm, slow speeds, etc) it's never a problem.
