Can anyone tell me if the banshee rear brake rotor & hub will fit a 85 tri-z?
It doesnt have to fit the caliper just need to know if I can fit it to the stock axle with the stock carrier for the z.
no.
The banshee brake hub will grind on the Z carrier.
The sprocket hub fits right on though.

so what brake rotor can I use? I dont have the stock 1 anymore so its urgent I get 1 to fit as its 1 of the final jobs for the rebuild.
2004 YFZ 450 quad, rear brake rotor will fit the tri-z brake hub.
You may have to slightly enlarge the mount holes in the new rotor.
Just a very minor amount,to get the 4 bolts in.
You will have to shim the rear caliper over about 3/8ths inch with a few spacers.

the spocket hub will fit on the "Z" from the Banshee... ALL of the splines are the same from the two... some people have problems from that but i didn't...
the "MANTIS" has a Banshee axel in it with a 1987 Banshee RPM Billet 4-bolt sprocket hub along with the "Z" Brake hub......... i had to use the Banshee aftermarket thread lock nut on the brake hub................
Moshman and Raffa knows there Shizisnet on these things ... PM them
^^ Just like he said^^
The axle, and sprocket hubs will interchange,as well as the wheel hubs.
But...
The brake hub on the Z is offset Outward towards the wheel. So it clears the Z carrier and lines up the rotor with the caliper mounts. The Z had a offset rotor that tapered back towards the carrier and was smaller in diameter than a Banshee rotor.
The Banshee brake hub had less offset and will bottom out on the carrier as soon as you tighten the axle nuts. The Banshee rotor was straight in design with no offset and larger in diameter and will hit the caliper.
And switching to the Banshee carrier is not an option on the Z swinger unless you want to do a ton of fab and machine work on the Z swinger.
The YFZ 2004 450 rear Rotor is straight in design with NO offset and the same diameter as the stock Z rotor was. The bolt holes for the 450 rotor are almost spot on for the Z hub. Like I said, a little filing on them holes and they bolt right on the Z hub. Then just shim the caliper over 3/8 ths to make up for the non- offset 450 rotor and you are good to go. Heck we cut my spacers out of just round stock, and got some longer caliper mount bolts.
That 04 YFZ 450 quad rear rotor is also a direct bolt on to the front of the Z.
So now, we can have them cool wave things...All the way around on the Z.:naughty:
I guess you can "make" a Banshee brake hub and rotor fit, if you want to turn the hub and or carrier down to clear each other.
But the Banshee rear rotor will cause you to lose ground clearance, and you wont use the extra rotor diameter anyway with the Tri-Z caliper.
