Ok fellas, I need a little input as how to adjust my carb. I have the 88cc kit on my honda 70 and am now running a 19mm carb instead of the 16mm. The trike idles fine, but I have no power as soon as I give it gas it wants to die, I have to feather the throttle to get the rpms up but it is really doggy threw the whole range...

I have a size 68 main jet in it now, I have tried adjusting the pilot and it dont seem to make a bit of difference. The idle screw increases or decreases the idle just fine. I have taken the clip on the needle and moved it all the way from the top to the bottom and it just dont seem to make any difference. Any suggestions as to what I should do or try to get this thing to have some throttle response?? Thanks

What does your plug look like?

It sounds like its running really rich to me. You may have to re-jet or put the smaller carb back on and go up a jet size until you get it right. I agree, check the plug, if its really black and sooty, your running too rich. If the main jet is just too big, it dosnt matter if you turn the pilot air screw all day, it wont make a difference cuz its just getting too much gas.

Ok, checked the plug and it is all carbon looking (dark). I assume that means it's rich. So I went down to a size 58 jet size. It seems to be running worse now. Still idles fine but a lot more doggy. So I started with the size 78 then to 68 now at 58. Anymore thoughts??? Should I try the stock carb?? Those of you that are running the 88cc kit what carb are you using?? Thanks again for your input

When you go with a bigger bore I thought you should also go up sizes in your jets too. If its running worse with a smaller jet it means its running lean. Do some plug chops, what color is the plug now? You could also put the choke on a lil bit while its running to see if it runs any better. Is it smoking at all? If you pull the jet out of your old carb. you can try that, and put all the settings back to book specs and try again. Are your valves also adjusted correctly?
