What would it take to put a disk brake on a 250 sx instead of the drum?

Or 200X front end. You need to fab up steering stops, unless you get a clarke tank, then there's no prob, because the tank stops your triples. Some guys have installed the 200X forks in the SX triples, your choice really. Good luck.

Nothing helps the rear short of a WORKS shock and they don't make it a miracle machine.
Realize it's limitations, match a decent front end to it (200X) and you'll be pretty happy with the outcome.
If you can find a whole front with tire and brake (in nice shape) for 200$ give or take, you did just fine!

They're too tall, and not needed unless you basically get a free one.
The rake may or may not be to friendly to the SX either, not sure.....
The best way is to use the 83-85 200X triples and not merely slide them into the SX WIDE cast steel triple clamps.
