So I just finnished up converting my Tri-Z to an 83 YZ250 power valve cylinder and everything is working great. I took it out this last weekend for memorial day ran fine just working the jetting bugs out. Anyone else running this set up out there an have some recomondations for jets. I have a 38mm round slide with a 50 pilot Q0 needle jet and a 370 main in right now. It seems alittle rich, enough to spatter some oil goo around the cylinder but its alomst like its running too hot at the same time. I dont have a heat gun to check it, anyone got any ideas? Oh an its fully ported with the head cut down and squish recut. Thanks guys. :beer

Plug chop's are the only way to find out where it's at on Jetting -

Light - Dark BROWN spark plug is what you want .

I know that too, but the most accurate way is to do a pipe check. The exhaust port should be oily an wet 2.5-3" away from the piston at a 3 or 4th gear roll on to wide open. If the oil starts to burn off an get dry closer than that its too lean or goes further into the pipe is to rich. I was out in the sand this last weekend so I didnt really want to mess with it too much. Just checkin on here to see if anyone has a good baseline jetting to start out with. :beer :beer

Anyone have a good baseline for jets? I hate the guessing game...
