Traded my 1973 Kawasaki F11 restoration project for my 84 250r. 250r had a bad motor and bad tires.

I had a ton of time and money invested in the F11 but knew I'd never finish it. Since it's such a rare bike (made only 4 years) no one wanted one that wasn't done!

Found my 84 125M (now sold) on Craigslist for $100. Guy bought a pair of them new for him and his wife. He rode his for years, she rode hers once. It sat in his garage since it was new! Needed a bunch of work due to sitting so long (tires, carb work, etc) but I tuned it up and sold it for a mighty profit. Probably the lowest mileage 125M out there haha

Heres my tri z I bought for 100, and my tecate I bought for $40. I picked up the tecate about 7 years ago or so, and have put a lot of parts and time into it, still needs new palstics, but it runs great but leaks gas when sittin for a while. The 85 Z is as how it sits now, still needing a motor, then put the rest back together.

I picked up my first ATC90 for $175. Real clean...Carb in a coffee can. A buddy bought the other one the guy had for $150 I think... a little more worn than mine but running. I put tires on mine and the carb back together with a rebuild kit and rode the piss out of it and then accidentally ran it over with my 69 Ford 4x4 one day. Somewhere along the line I inherited the 2nd 90 from my buddy and have put the best pieces together for one and slowly getting the other one in riding order again. They should both be running for our Thanksgiving Dune trip this year.

I paid 400 bucks for my 85 350X. Kick start stays down when you kick it !!! I pull started it with my truck when I bought (three or four years ago) and it ran great, Its been sitting in the shed since then but now its in my basement. Two of the exhaust studs are broke so I am pulling the motor to fix them. I just got one stud nut off and have one to go. Took an hour to get the motor ready to pull and all day to get that one nut off :( tomorrow I am going after the other one. Then drill and tap holes I am sure there all going to break off flush:twisted: well at least everything else should be easy after this part.

1983 200S : $150 : Came in boxes, not running, never really did
1985 250R : $1500 : Needed ALOT of work, but I have never seen one before other than pictures, and I haven't really seen one since in person, so I bought it anyways, and am currently starting a complete rebuild!

sorry to go off topic. how do you like those V track fronts on your bikes? How do they ride?

Ive had alot of bikes over the years:

86 350x (~ 25hrs on it in 1994 for 1350) Sold it for that about 5 years later.
86 tecate in 1996 for 1100 (needed fenders was soooo mint rolled once and sat till I got from orig owner w/title) Sold for 1350 when I sold the X for money for college.
86 tecate in 1998 that needed stator for 1000, sold in 2000 for car money.
85 KLT 110 new hand me down from my brother in 1989 (wish I still had was bareley used. Sold to neighbor in 05 for like 400 bucks. Never though there was a market for trikes)
85 250SX very low hrs for 400. Was the beater bik for ppl that didnt know how to use a clutch.

Since grad Ive gotten a bunch of basket cases and 3 nicer bikes

83'R Very clean for $1400

86' Tecate bought from Craigs list for 2700 was described as near mint I got delivered a rider with no silencer.

86'R Clean rider 1400. Stock bore needs bezel.

I havent found revelation buy yet. Im hoping to find a nice 86 tecate and to build some custom vintage big bore stuff.

I didnt pay a dime for my ALT 125. My uncle bought it around 3 years ago for $300 in non running condition and worked on it till he got blisters on his fingers from pullin on the rope and put it in the garage...The last week we were cleaning the garage and he asked me if i wanted it...so i said hell yes! had her runnin 3 days later!

Some aren't 3 wheelers but what the hell.
1973 CB350: $500 including the gas in the truck for the 6 hour roundtrip.
1978 ATC90: $110. I got the '78 from a member here and more of the parts on it were in better shape than the '77 ATC90 I already had so I combined them both to make one decent machine.
1982 ATC110: $150
2002 Recon: $600. Came missing the rear rack and fenders. Also wasn't running. I got it running to find out it would only go backwards. I tore the front and back case sides off to find that it went for a swim before I got it. One of the centrifugal clutch springs broke and I believe this is what's causing it to not shift into a forward gear. I've still got it in pieces of my work bench. Some trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotr ailpro owner somehow managed to bust up the drain plug hole so I'm waiting on a friend to try and weld it up for me.

I paid $325 for my 85 225dx and a parts bike.

I may as well add to the list..
$50 from a coworker who had it stored and wanted the space back. Another $89 in parts (new tire, float needle and oil) to get running and rolling.

And a few more $$ in queue for new brakes front and rear.

So less than $200 for a good running machine.

I paid $600 for my 1985 250R back in 1994 or 1995. Back then that was about an average price. It ran and drove fine, had the wrong plastics on the rear and was otherwise stock right down to the pipe and silencer.

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k162/atc330r/trikes/DSC03668.jpg

This one is going to make some of you sick though. In 1999 I paid $650 for my 1986 T3 and except for the wide axle it looked just like it does in these pics except the seat cover was mint and it had 18" Fast Trekkers on the stock wheels (which are still in the shed). I haven't done a thing to it cosmetically but I did yank the head off and have a buddy mill it for a little more compression.

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k162/atc330r/trikes/DSC03680.jpg

I believe I paid $200 for my 1985 350X back around the winter of 2000. It came with a box of new parts that needed to be installed but it also needed a lot of work. It was all there but it was clapped out. Cosmetically it was pretty good but it needed tires, an exhaust and a bunch of other small stuff. I rebuilt the engine while I had it out to remove a broken exhaust stud and we did some work to it (cam, ported head, carb, wiseco 10:1 piston) while it was out.

That's the only ones worth mentioning.

$1000 bought 2 85R's in peices. There was enough parts to put 1 together that was mint and most of the second one. 1 whole home-polished motor with new 1.5 over bore, wiesco, new bearings (all of them tire to tire), new oem crank, lsr carrier, and much more. I also got a complete bike minus left case (threw a chain) and some minor parts that was beat, then hacked, but it was all there (soon to be ATC450R). The guy died before he could put it together... car accident.

I paid $1000 for a 81 ATC 200. Yea, Yea, I know that's alot of money, but this thing is a true surviver. It had been in storage for 27 years and had very low hours/miles. Original tires, fenders, Honda line racks, and even decals. It looks like it was ridden 100 miles and then put to sleep.

90 was found behind a barn. free.neede a carb, and tank sealed. --sold for $300
110 paid 75 for it and ran --sold for $450
125M was from a wrecking yard, mint and running -- sold for 300 because of caved in tank from HARD roll.

200E was $50 and was near mint, 185S was $23 and I had to pull Newrider3's pickup out of his old farm and bring it to my house. I made my 200 Custom from it and Have a whole parts bike for sale, including front rack and light cage for E. PM me if interested in any parts, 185S, 200E, and 110, 125M parts.--still in posession.

KLT250 was free because it was a POS- sold for $200
My first Tecate (86) was bought for $300 and needed brakes, bad. sold for $750 in great shape.
Just bought an 84 T-3 for $50 and has a full DG system and great plastics, i got a motor, needs rings and gasket kit, and swinger bearings(on order).
I wish I had my R,Z, 350X, and 200S again :(.

Took it home (the deal also included a 185S and a 200x and a butt load of tires), cleaned out the carb the next day, and tried to bump start it. Fired right up. Had to replace the old rusty tank, and now it has a newer engine in it, and a new frame :) Oh, and a new front tire.

Got around $1500 in parts in it so far and the 85 250r all I've done is a air filter, oem fork boots and grips and gave $1500 for that one too. This one is not stock internally. between 150 and 300 for 85+ models that usually need 10-30 hrs work but very little extra $$.

The most I ever paid? 600 for an 85sx last week but sold an 84es and running parts trike for 500 so it really only cost me 100?

see how I rationalize?

It's in the top 10 of warning signs

first trike was a 1986 125m i bought from a friend for $150 . Had fun with it then sold it for $300
1983 200 for $100 fixed and sold for $400
1984 200es for $140 fixed and sold for $300
1982 klt 250 for $100 this is a very poor design. ignition was out and put the ford duraspark on it but the stater does not turn it over good enough to start the p.o.s. last killasaki ill buy!
1983 185s for $250 this is a keeper. the bike was wrecked and the guy just let it sit up for 23 years . gonna fix it and take good care of her.

Paid $350 for the 83 200e Big Red and $350 for the 84 200es Big Red.

Not a bad deal as they were both listed for $525 each (from separate people).

They need some work, but the most important thing is...I have them in my garage now!:w00t:

I bought this for $250.00 . The guy though it was locked up since it didin't have a plug in it and it wouldn't turn over. I took it home and took the head off and it has a piece of white chat on top of the piston. Chat is what we use for driveway rock. his kid dropped a piece in there. I sold the Oddy for $2500.00 ... I got in a bind and had to sell it.... Man ... I need a break like that now !!! Thank You OBAMA ... But you are gonna save US ALL ...... RIGHT ???

The 250R under the tree ... I paid a $1000.00 and it was a certified 1 owner ... My friend Patrick got it as a Graduation Preset in 1985 I got a std. oem HONDA complete topend set and bill of sell from Big River Honda in West Memphis Arkansas and the Original HONDA title. I still have it ... I still have the ct70 too ... it has 400 miles on it..

The other 250R ... I paid $500.00 For... Sold it 3 times for $1800.00 and people get in a bind so they sell it back to me ... I still have it too ..
