I have this atc 70 that I bought a few years ago in not running condition. I decided to go ahead and try to get it going this week.

I have a good spark so I ordered one of those "oem replacement" carbs off of ebay. I put it on and can get the bike to idle pretty well on or off choke but when I give it gas it sputters and dies or wants to die. With the choke on full it will try to rev up but it still pops and stutters. This makes me think that the bike is running lean. Here is what I have done so far:

- replaced intake mainfold gasket
- replaced main jet and emulsion tube with stock carb ones (verified that they were clean and all ports are clear)
- replaced spark plug
- changed needle clip to various positions
- checked float and needle and they seem to be clean and working
- adjusted pilot air screw

So at this point I am beginning to think I might have an electrical issue or maybe timing issue? Any thoughts on my next step?

Go to the points. Just buy new and reset timing, should get ya going. P.s......did you clean the tank?? You may have dirt already in the new carb??? I would suspect points first though...... good luck.
