I bought a caliper off a boardmember a while back. Now, that I'm assemblying my trike, I can't figure out how this thing is supposed to attach. Is this another, 85 is different then 86 ordeal? Can someone post close up pics of the way they are set up so i can address my problems? the Honda manual is so generic and the pictures are so poor that it offers no help at all and doesn't even distinguish if there is a difference between years.
The way the manual is never clear on it, and the amount of times i can't get parts to fit that assumably should bolt right on, this "rider" is probably the biggest pain i've had the displeasure of working on. It's frustrating having to come here and ask questions that should never have to be asked in the first place if the manual was worth a damn.

No the manual does not show everything up close but any website that has the parts look up shows you exactly how it goes together.

Thats 85
86 has no linkage and uses just a plate over a roller thats held on with a clip.

I understand it bolts to the ring around the carrier and there is another metal bracket that comes out like a triangle but i don't know how to connect that. If I jut bolt it on that ring the caliper just basically floats around. I don't know how to secure it. That's why i was asking for some pics to get an idea of how it attaches. This is probably elementary for most of you but it my first time dealing with a setup like this.

Here is how my 85 attaches. I had it off to rebuild the caliper.

Perfect! That the picture I needed! Now i know the reason I can't connect it ius because I'm missing a piece. The bar that connects the bracket from the caliper to the swingarm is a part I don't have. That answers my question perfectly.
Can someone tell me if it would be dangerous to fabricate a bar that would work for me made out of aluminum tubing? Maybe steel tubing?

I'd go with a flat piece of steel. Make it a good fit though (where the two bolts are) because I bet it would chatter like crazy if it is too loose.
I measured a spare rod I have and the holes are 4.5 inches apart, center-to-center.
Good luck!
