I found a topic on frame decoding but not engine serial numbers.
I'm trying to find the exact year of an ATC70 motor TB "O" "0" E-3040242.
I know all about the different shift patterns etc etc, I just ant to nail it down
I tried the search but couldn't find what I needed....
THANK YOU for any assistance :D

My clymer manual says 1984 TBO3E-2900001- on . All the earlier models are 28's and lower. 73 and 74 are 1000001- on and 1100001- on. Thats according to clymers now.

Thanks bud, just trying to figure out if it's 84 or 85 now I guess.
I'll just shift the bad boy before I split the case :D

The Honda ID Manual gives you engine number breakdowns just like the VIN. It's a pretty useful manual, and can be picked up for $25-$40.

The Honda frame and engine numbers are posted in the specs pages.
