I am getting a front hub and drum from the forum user "hublake" for my 250sx He suggested I replace the bearings as he is unsure of their conditions. Can anyone help me out with this procedure or tell me the size of ball bearings I will need ?
is this something I should take to a mechanic to do or is this a novice task ?

You can get a kit from All Balls that will include what you need. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Front-Wheel-Bearings-ATC200S-ATC200-ATC-200S-200-250SX_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2em20Q2el111 6QQhashZitem33521b638cQQitemZ220420858764QQptZMoto rsQ5fATVQ5fPartsQ5fAccessoriesQQsalenotsupported
Download the service manual here http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/showthread.php?t=56218 and you can install them yourself.

One of my front bearings was almost in pieces when I was rebuilding my front end. I had no idea! I would call this a novice task. To knock the bearings out you will need a long drift. Insert into the opposite side of the front hub and knock the bearing outward. Mine didn't go. After lubricant, time and brute force failed, I ended up taking it to a machine shop where they used the same procedure but with a press to push them out. Took them about two minutes. I need a press...
Place the old bearing against the new one and tap it into place. Using the old bearing to do this keeps hammer hits off your new bearing. I literally filled my front hub with marine grade grease.
