Short story long got it from a dude on Marketplace, but it was pitch black when I picked it up. Surprise, surprise it was a wreck and half its plastic bits decided to take a joyride on the freeway. So, I'm going all in and giving it a total makeover!

I recently got a 1985 ATC250es from a friend. It has been sitting in the woods for 5 to 10 years....

I recently got a 1985 ATC250es from a friend. It has been sitting in the woods for 5 to 10 years.
I am having some questions for the forum so I decided to start a thread on this machine.
i will get some photos as well.
I noticed yesterday that there are holes in each of the tail light lenses in pretty much the same place.
I am guessing that the bulbs got hot and melted the plastic lenses?
My question is would this be caused by someone using the wrong bulbs, or could these lenses be low quality after market and the polymer just cannot handle the heat from the standard bulbs?
Have any of you seen this before with the 2nd gen bigreds?

I know the 85/6 250r and 350x seems expensive but are the 200x prices seems to be not selling unless cheap? im talking rider type trikes, nice looking maybe a crack here or a tear in a seat.
I see them sit at 1500 up on marketplace.
im tempted to go look at one missing a headlight not running and a spare roller included, ad says 800, seller says come and get them for 600. If I didnt just buy a running complete 84 December I would have been right over but 600 dollars dont grow on trees around here anymore. jim

What are most folks using for an air filter? I recently bought a big red that has been sitting for years. It does not have an air filter cage. I have been able to use the uni without a cage on my 250SX because there is a spring inside to support the foam. It seems that the uni that is available for the ATC250es does not have a spring and appears to be intended to be used with the OEM air filter cage and bracket. Let me know what is the preferred way to go on this. Thanks.
