have you guys ever heard of a scooter not wanting to crank after a bath. started her up and ran fine drove to water spicket washed her off let it sit for about an hour tried to start and nothing but an occasional backfire. noticed the plug was black and had a white park.any suggestions
There have been many times that I have had a similar situation on several different vehicles. Did you get the air filter wet? That's where I'd start. Then I'd pull the spark plug make sure it's all dry. Use compressed air or even a leaf blower to dry the filter and plug. I'd put it back together and see if it starts. If not I'd get some ether. I'm sure you just got water into the intake some how. It may also be water on points or electrical components. Dry everything.
Your plug was black long before you washed it from being rick bklack dry or oil black moist and goey. Try a NEW plug. Check filter as suggested. Unplug spark plug cdi and other wires and clean connectors with flammable brake cleaner. They may be wet. i
Did you get water in the gas? Did you use a PRESSURE handle or bare hose? Don't do whatever you did again.
Drain gas from carb via drain screw into a clear glass. Is gas orange? Is there sediment in it? Is there small drop of water at bottom of glass? Water sinks in gas.
figured it out . water got into spark plug boot . let it dry ,put a new plug in and away we go....thanks all for the responses
