My 85 250es big red won't start. The starter is burnt up. I don't need it since I have a kicker. I'm getting spark and carb bowl is full. But still won't bust off even if I try to pull start it. Anyone know what it might be?
i had that problem alot for me it turned out to be the jets in the carb needed to be cleaned
Twice for me it was the exciter coil inside the left engine case. Pretty easy to get to and only a $30 part on eBay. Get a new starter they are cheap and easy to install. Plus two things will happen. You'll wear out the kick start and two you'll be like everyone else who thinks it cool to leave the damn side cover on when they kick it over, which destroys the valuable plastic!
Sounds like your carb needs a rebuild.
