Hey y'all! I bought an '85 when I was twelve or 13, which was about 10 years ago. It was in pretty sorry shape and would fall into the category of what many would call a parts bike. I tried to get it going but as you can imagine funds were pretty limited as a pre-teen lol. Fast forward 10 years and I'm a hundred bucks away from getting it RUNNING. I have all the important parts that it needs to run on the way thanks to ebay. The jug is at the shop getting honed, so as soon as I get a piston it'll be ready to go! I got the bare minimum of what is required to get it going, (I'll worry about making it pretty later) mikuni 34 mm carb, an ignition coil that looks like it wasn't chewed on by a two year old. I actually ended up ordering a frame I got for 120 with free shipping!!!! She won't look pretty but at least she'll move. I was very close to parting it outo to get a 250r but im.glad I didn't. Stay tuned the killing machine will be back from the dead in a few weeks!
P.s. I have no seat or hardware for it to speak of so if y'all know of a seat hardware assembly that's available that would be beyond stellar!!
Got a quote from USNicom to get the cylinder striped, bored and replated. So I'm going to take it to a local machine shop to get the cylinder and head hot tanked then I'll send it off to get fixed up. Got a lot of goodies this week. I got a frame off ebay for 120!!! Also got a stator, stator cover and ignition coil (after i found the old ones. Oh well, spare parts i guess), oem twist throttle set up, bunch of misc. hardware off bikebandit, 34mm mikuni, and a petcock. All of it should be coming in within a week. Stoked to get this baby put together!!!!
