Hello, Tri Moto enthusiasts! I have acquired two Yt-175s. One is a 1982 in fair condition and the other is a complete mess beater 1983 Yt-175. The 82 has no compression so I did a tear down and found a scored piston and cylinder. Unfortunately, the 1983 has a bad crank-bearing knock, so I tore that down too, and found a very minty cylinder and head. I think I am going to combine the two to make one good engine and put it in the 82 frame. I have heard the 83 has the best stuff. What should I rob off of the 83 to put on the 82? I've heard the clutch basket, but what about the cylinder, carb, head, reed valves, etc? Or should I just fix the 82 cylinder (which can be done with some honing) and be done with it? I guess I'm really asking if the 83 is that much better to justify making a Frankenstein or should I just keep er' stock? Summary: Good 82 frame Parts 83 frame Good 82 bottom end, bad top (can hone to fix it) Good 83 top end, bad bottom Stock or Frankenstein?
