So I had plans to sell my 85 Tecate and buy one Liquid R. Im happy to report my plans have changed. I bought the tecate a few months ago and only rode it one time (in my yard) Well I took it out the other day and really opened it up and I fell in love. Im now buying a heater for my garage and will be starting to tear the bike down, fix the spraybomb job the previous owner did and replace all worn parts. Any ideas on frame colors? Also im looking for extended swinger/axle if you guys know of any let me know.
Mike at HRE for the swinger, he built me a plus 5 inch! 1986 Tecate OEM silver looks good on the 1985 frame! Axles are getting tough to find, just keeps you eyes open on e-bay or around classifed sites.
get a new swingarm built so you can run the 400ex style stuff.
Does the swinger Mike at HRE builds work with the 400ex stuff? I was thinking white frame/swinger. But silver my work. Also the rear master cyl is limp, tired cracking the bleeder but nothing happens, no fluid or air comes out. What other setups will work for the rear brakes?
Yes he builds them with 400ex stuff. It also makes it easier to get axles.....as they still produce them! I used a Suzuki Z400 Master cylinder! Just need to fab up a bracket to mount it, and shorten the rezy hose!
As for the rear brake setup I'm working on trying to find a newer rear caliper replacement. Thats awesome that you are keeping your Tecate..
U should b able to rebuild the caliper. if urs is junk. ]_u can also use the z 400s front master aswell. The updated masters really makes a differents.Green and silver for colors.
Yeah what T3 Lopes said.....Brrrrrr Brrrr Brrr rrrrrrrr
Good stuff. How can I get into contact with Mike? And how can I score a number plate?
