What front tire are you guys using? Mine is stock and nearing the end of a useful life. I'm a desert rider so i need a decent knobby. I hate the front max by the way, never had one on a tecate and never will.
Dunlop KT761 22x9x10 This tire works awesome. Besides that it's a Dunlop, like the stock one. $46 on bikebandit

I'm runnig a Duro AT21-10-10, and it seems to work well in the sand. It's not a real rounded tire so it stays a little more on top of the sand though.

dcreel, what are the back tires on your red one? They look very close to original.
They probably are original...my 85 still has the original tires on it all the way around....

Well d'creel, I have been looking at front tires, something to match up to the Holeshots I have to put on the rear of my project build and I will say the selection is very narrow in a 10 inch fat front tire. After see'ing your Dunlop, on the machine, I reckon it is going to be about as good as I can get so you helped me out with that picture. That patern is very close to the Kendra path finders I have on my Polaris trike and work very well for all around riding. Thanks ! john
