I have always been a honda man but recently came acrost a deal i could not pass up on an 86 tecate, I love the way they look and word on the street is they are silly fast. Now im in the hunting/gathering stage but I dont know much about these bikes, I do know the 84 85's are diffrent than the 86 87's my question is does anything cross over or are they completely diffrent. also any quad or dirtbike parts the same? master cylinders? brake rotors? anything to help open up my search would be great. In addition if anyone has any parts they would be willing to sell pm me please, Im going to be starting a build post soon so ya'll can follow along as i go. Thanks for your time.

First things first. As a new Tecate owner, and having recently become a Tecate member, you are mandated to post lots of high res pics in either 800x600 or 900x600 format

The 84 is a front drum, the 85 is a front disc.

According to kawasaki.com. The rear rotor is used by the 86-87 Tecate only. The rear caliper is 86-87 only. According to the part numbers the front and rear calipers and rotors are the same part numbers front and rear. caliper 43041-1222 rotor 41080-1162

The rear master cylinder assy 43015-1305 is only used by the 86-87 Tecate. The rear master cylinder piston 43020-1061 is only used by the 86-87 Tecate as well and is also discontinued. People have found these parts by calling Kawasaki dealers across the globe looking for a dusty one on the shelf somewhere.

All of the parts above are discontinued.

EBC sells rotors and pads front and rear for the 86-87 Tecate. EBC brakes are really good brakes.

As for the rear master cylinder replacement. I bought a 91 KX125 rear master cylinder off Ebay just based on the looks of it for my 84, and it fit.
