Excuse me if there is already a topic with this subject, but I've been searching and I didn't found.

I'm trying to restore a 84 Tecate to OEM specifications and I'm with some difficulties to find some informations. One of them is to know the paint code for the parts that are painted in gold (wheels, swingarm...).

Someone can help me? Those parts came from factory painted or powder coated?

I believe they are anodized, not painted or preped other wise

Can you anodize steel? As many of those wheels I have seen in really rusty shape, I thought they were painted steel wheels. Service manual says nothing about it.

I was under the impression that the 84 had steel wheels as well....Never heard of anodized steel....just aluminum. my .02

Thank you Mike for your reply.
I've been watching your photos and the krylon gold it seems very similar to the original color, but what I really want to know is what was the code of the OEM gold pait, or that information is impossible to get?

If I did not get the information that I want, I will follow your advice and paint all the parts with krylon gold.

I don't think the stock wheels are painted... Seems like some sort of electrolysis style coating to help prevent rust, before they switched to aluminum rims.

Maybe Tanner, but for sure that the swingarm, the outer forks, the rod and suspension arm aren't.

I already got a color very similar to the original:

But now I have some doubts with the correct color of the following parts:

    - rear axle

    - rear hubs

    - rear sprocket flange

    - disc plate holder

I know that they are galvanized, but with gold or chrome finish? Any information about this parts will be gratefully appreciated, ideally some pictures of OEM Tecates.

What color and name brand did you use on the gold parts? It looks very close to OEM but it is hard to tell unless you have the parts side by side. I have an 84 red Tecate that I have never restored because it is in such good condition. Regarding the parts you listed above, the axle is just a natural finish. The rear hubs appear to be zinc plated, they have a yellow tint. The rear sprocket flange is natural as well as the disc plate holder. I don't have picture of these specific parts but perhaps I could take some if you need more information.
