Called Maier today and commited to producing 5 front fenders and 5 rear fenders in white. These are made to the same OEM molds as the lime green ones we all have. DC plastics will also maket the radiator shrouds in white if ordered in sets of 2 or more. I have been wanting to do a white / lime / black 1986/87 build so I am gonna have these made. I only want 2 sets so I will be offering 3 sets of them for sale to 3ww members ... It wasnt a cheap deal with shipping and everything its gonna cost $ 260 for the rear fenders and $ 140 for the front If anybody wants a set they are gonna be 400.00 plus whatever UPS is to your address... When I have them in about 8 weeks , I will put up the photos ... If you are serious , then contact me ...
I didn't know Maier even had a mold for the 86-87 Tecate fenders..
Are they the lo-pro rears or the oem style, I didn't know they had the molds either. Maier did have the shroud molds too so it's worth asking if they still have them.
Im with these guys are you sure you getting the 86-7 fenders? Thats awesome if you are and when did they say you could expect them ?
The rep assured me they are to OEM specs like the original. The only difference is they are in white. She also said they can do lime minimum 5 sets same price. Im waiting on some play money and I am ordering them. When I get them I will post up the pics. What interested me in these was seeing a picture of some in a thread of a build by sportvette. Called maier the next day and thats how it went down. If I make these is there anybody out there interested in the other 3 sets ? I dont need 5 of them but I have to make 5 to get them to do em.
thats alot of coin paul. The last set I got on a group buy (for first gen t3) were 240-260.00 (I can't remember exactly) plus shipping for the front and rear. I may be interested in a set but all new fenders would defeat the purpose of my next build.
Someone is making a mistake...MAIER has never had 86-87 T-3 molds other than the ones Hornets made for the headlight and shrouds. That is why all the guys bought a run of green 250R front fenders to put them on the 86 T-3's cuz they were never made. If you all want 86-87 t3 stuff you are gonna have to have molds made.
I'm not so sure guys.. On Fabio's post about his 86 Tecate parts there is what looks like a Maier rear fender, and a front fender ugly enough to be a Maier.. I mean not crisp like oem. I've never heard of 2nd gen Tecate Maier fenders but look at this pic. The other pic shows the crisp oem lines of the oem rear fender. It even has a Maier sticker on it.. (IDK) John, I borrowed a couple of your pics..
Let me be corrected then, and also clarify. They may have had molds back in the ole days with the 1st design plastics they were doing.(the dull stuff) But to my knowledge, they have never offered the molds in 86-87 newer shiny plastic style. We had a lot of people ask us about them and as long as we have worked with them guys, and they have never offered the 86-87 fenders with the 2nd design process they currently use. Unless someone had molds made recently, and then you would have to go through the new mold owner to buy them. (Unless Maier made the molds) Or maybe they still have those old molds and can use them? Be interesting to see what happens.
How do you post pics in here? I have a picture of a nice maier front for the finish comparison to a nos fender as well as the dull finish. And Fabio's fenders are the maier ones, except for the one with the seat. Maier made the front and rear fender, air box cover, many # plates, rear brake caliper cover, and rad shrouds for the 86/7 edit* posted some pics in the group album of the front fender for color comparison, it would look like an identical match to the clarke tanks
