so I'm rebuilding my 84 complete rebuild is there any kinda hop ups any one thinks I should do while I have it ripped down. I have it down to a bare frame which I'm going to powder coat and I have the cases split so any ideas are welcome. Thanks Karl
I have heard that you can use 83/84 kx 250 parts like wiring the jug, head and piston(the kx parts are better quality and work better than the tecate parts). and i believe the stator and fly wheel but im not sure. they make ricky stator and flywheel kits for the tecates as it is, so there wouldnt really be a need for interchanging them. How much is it going to cost you to powdercoat your frame? im on a budget build so it would be awesome if i could powdercoat mine, but im probably going to take it to a place to just paint and clearcoat it.
I dont know what powder coat is going to cost yet but I'm going through a friend who has a guy that charged him 50 for his HD frame so i hopping about the same.
50!!! wow thats like dirt cheap! i would think that just a plain ol' paint job would cost at least 70! I have heard of places charging 100-500 for a professional job.

Hey Karl i just rebuilt my motor and i found a componey to do a big bore kit for it! I had Kustom Kraft do the work and they bore it, plate it and machine the head, they done a great job!
The kx250 dirt bike ignition works from 84-86 for sure. Its lighter and way better quality only down fall is no lights. Pvl makes ignitions for the tecate but they are expensive. Other up grades are pipes Klemm,. Basanni, Coffmann, DG, FMF, Jemco, maybe more that I don't know about. PWK air striker carb is a popular up grade then a cold air intake and reeds. I have dual stage carbon fiber ones in my bike that are awesome but, I have no idea who makes them.
