I'm thinking about mounting an ITP Sand Star front tire on my tecate 22X8X10. What do you think? Any other options out there? Have you ever thought about it?

I've got a sand star on my Tri-z. Great looking tires, and the dual rib design is sweet for turning on a 3wheeler. A 22x8x10 should work fine once seated. My friends and i run the same size front max on oem 85 front wheels. Sometimes tough to get seated though. Use LOTS of lube and be careful. The sidewall really expands outward due to the shorter tire height on these wide wheels, but look nice once on.

Do the ribs both face outward? Looking at these ribbed tires with the single rib alot of them have a single rib that leans outward. Meaning you would flip it from right to left for a quad for the rib to face outward. I'm afraid I will end up with a tire that will want to steer right or left depending on how it is mounted. I've looked at dozens of pictures of the sand star but none show it straight on to show how the ribs lean.

When I say outward do the 2 ribs form a \/ and not a // or \\ depending on how it is mounted. I would love to have a skat trak mohawk buffed but they only offer a 21x7x10

    Hey Doug
This may take a bit of research but if you look on Sand Tires Unlimited site, second tire from the bottom is a mini desert track in a 22-12 size and in the description they can be modified for the front of a three wheeler. I would guess they "cut " everything but the center rib??. May be another option.

It will look good with my new 1985 polished triples, fork legs, front hub, and front wheel. The 84's going to have a disc brake front.. woot. God I love working on tecates!!

Yes.... The sand star front will work on a 3 wheeler...I would imagine well... the ribs are both straight on the outside or slightly pointed out at the top.... In other words...Steering would be equal on either side of the tire...

I have these for sand fronts on both my banshee and 300EX.
