I hate to say this but I used to have a Klemm research pipe. I came down off a jump and landed on a rock with the lowest part of the pipe. It was a hand rolled cone pipe, and the part under the tank was huge. Needless to say it bent the whole pipe up. It was twisted and flattened on the bottom. Somehow it ended up in the trash. I have talked to Harry Klemm who said the pipes were made by Power Pros who are still open. I contacted them and they said they won't build anymore.
I agree with many of the reasons that have already been stated. It's a certain type of person who loves Kawis and especially Tecates. Kawi was always the underdog even thought they were capable of whooping anyone. Tecate guys are generally humble, blue collar guys who love to stand out from the crowd. When all you see is a lake of white, blue, and red (ie Hondas and Yamahas) it gets old. Then you see a green machine and it's like "awesome!" Then you find out that the green trike has the best engine of them all. Simple, aggressive and all business. It's like football fans. Fans of teams like the Steelers, Ravens, Patriots etc, are all blue collar, love the rough and tumble hard hitting defenses. Those are like the Tecate guys. Teams like the 49ers, Cowboys etc are the arrogant white collar teams. The fairweather fans like business executives. Those fans are liken to Honda and Yami guys. Those fans want to see finesse. they want to be part of the crowd not different.
Seriously, have a debate with a kawi fan, then have a debate with a Honda or Yamaha die hard and the difference in the arrogance is night and day. If it isn't honda or Yami, it is equal to bird crap and no magazine article or even proof in front of their own faces will convince them otherwise. I know that sounds like a mean thing to say but i am not intending to be mean. I'm just pointing it out. Sometimes the truth hurts. I have a feeling, whether or not they admit it, every single Kawi lover just read that and said to themselves, "he's absolutely right".
