Looks good man.. The forks look 100% better. What did you use to break the allen loose on the bottom of your forks when you replaced the fork tubes?

I somehow ended up with a lot of 4' sticks of 1/2" all-thread from work. I just double nutted one end, and used a vise-grip on the other. Also had to vise-grip the allen wrench in order to get enough leverage on it. They came loose pretty easy once broken free. If anyone wants a few sticks of that all-thread, I'd be glad to give it away. hehe.

Well, I'm trying to get the forks taken apart and cant. All I have is a allen wrench and its doing nothing. I'm going to have to find a 8mm allen 1/2" socket for the impact to do it lickety split like. The oil that came out of the forks (what little there was) looked like mud. I do have the Kawasaki tool to hold the inside of the fork to keep it from spinning. Oh.. I need to get a vise too.

eyece: I'll figure out how much it will cost and get back to you. Not sure if you'll be saving any money though. I think just about any hardware store should have it. Our local Lowes has 3' sticks for $8. I popped the clutch a little too quick on pavement. Began a wheelie that I wasn't able to pull out of in time. Ran into the brick wall of the house. hehe.

mud: A pneumatic orbital sander + Dremel for the tight corners. I started with 36 grit then 80 for the halfway pic. I plan on using 200 and then ~500 before I wetsand and polish. We'll see how it turns out.

dcreel: That's about how the tubes I used looked like. I got some help from my dad. We clamped the tube into a vise-grip, I got the all-thread, and he used the allen. It broke free after a brief struggle. lol.

I do have a question for anyone who's rebuilt 85 tecate forks. How much oil do you put in? I used the 259 mL or whatever the manual says. But it also says to fill it to 18 cm below the tops of the tubes. What do you do?
