Went for a stroll on my 1986 act 250es today 15 minutes into the ride I felt a bump then it started making a terrible bumping and grinding noise on the left side, Like maybe it is in the driveshaft? As far as I know it is the original Drive shaft and u-joints, I am the second owner of this bike and know most of its history. Anyway has anyone had this or can you tell me where to start as well as parts???
Also, just for info it does not make the noise or bind in reverse??
It sounds like the joint is about to break. Take the boot off and give it a look. You know it could also be the differential- hopefully you've removed the fluid cap to make sure it's clean inside and is full. You may also want to jack the bike up and check the swing arm bearings.
