Can anyone help me out with a CDI box don't know how to find one besides off ebay and don't know how good it will be or last. If any one has any suggestions I'm all ears. Thanks everyone
Not really try to ignore your requests for help but I dont have many electrical parts like most tecate owners..lol. I have a electrical system that I have never used, other than that the one that's in my Tecate. I think I sold all my other CDIs. I could look again s I am selling parts. Do you need lights? Why not use KX250 system with no lights? Maybe try T4 with lights? Unfortunately not many cheap options here.
It's expensive but you might consider a PVL ignition. You'll lose your lights but it will be a lot more reliable than OEM and it has a lot hotter spark.
So if I go to a different ignition system does my stator stay the same or does that get replaced as well, also what are all the Cdi and and ignition parts that interchange. At this point I don't even have a headlight so that isn't a big deal I just want it to run again and not collect dust in my garage anymore!

You can't use a Tecate 4. One is taper and one isn't...
Thanks everyone for all the advice, but today a guy put a Cdi on ebay off his 86 Tecate that he tore apart and never put back together, and looks wise looks to be the nicest one I've seen on there in a while and he said if it does not work he will give me a full refund. So I'll give it a shot and cross my fingers and hope for the best. If this fails I'll move on to the next step of changing out the entire ignition system so thanks again for the advice and help.
