I have an 85 T3 and I really don't like the twistgrip throttle. Is there any other machines that have a thumb throttle that will work good on this trike? Thanks.
just about anything off a 2 stroke quad or even a jetski or probably even 4 stroke quads like 300ex/400ex. They are pretty generic but I did find a Yamaha one on my Tecate that was rigged to work because the cable size was way too large and the cable would just get sucked right into it. Off a utility quad? I am going to try a Tecate 4 thumb but I think those were used on a bunch of kawasaki quads too like the Bayou. I saw some jetski thumbs and they were cooler cause they said Kawasaki on the top. some people said getting the cable for the right angle to the carb top was the hard part on the 84/85. I had an 84 with larger than stock carb and never remember having that issue. Anyway I paid $12 for mine and it had a cable included.

Thanks for all the info. I ended up buying a thumb throttle from a Kawasaki Mojave 250. It did come with the cable that has right angle bend on the end that connects to the carb.
after you get it installed, post your findings to the above mentioned swap thread...
I am finding out that Motion Pro does not make Tecate 4 KXF250A cable for thumb, so mojave might be way to go, but I think I am going to order ACT250R 85/86 TRX thumb to 34-38mm carb and see if that works.
So a solution is to melt lead, weld, or buy a motorcycle cable repair kit to make your own cable end after you cut it to length.
The ATC Honda 250R thumb throttle for 36-38mm carb works good and is right cable length but it uses the larger thread style for thumb throttle so you cant use Kawasaki thumbers, I had to use a Yamaha I had or you will need Honda TRX or similar.
