Any tricks to remove it without the special tools. I used the penny trick to remove the pinion joint nut. But the bearing locknut won't budge. I've unstaked it. Help please.

I take it your not using an air impact?? I remove the cover, and with ring gear installed - I jam a penny in it, replace cover with 2 bolts and use an air gun to get it off.
Other than heat, I got nothing for ya!

and scroll down to "RACERXXX" my post with a copy of my tools modeled after THEFOX's tools. I bought all my stuff at Home Depot for around $10 any ??? about the tools just ask. I also made bearing presses and seal installers. Measure the pipe fitting hex to fit inside your "lock nut" it's roughly 44 MM, but 1-3/4 hex is just oversize and you can use a right angle grinder to dress it to fit the 44 MM lock nut. Clear as mud right?
