Update..For the carb pictured below at sea level and an unmodified airbox w/ Uni filter (oiled), try a 110 or 112.5 main jet and the needle at the 3rd position. Open the pilot jet air screw until you rpm's raise, then leave it. This is spot on for my setup. With a stock air filter, it will probably bolt on with the existing main jet.

For the 2nd test I removed the stock main jet (not marked) and used a toothpick to gauge it against known Keihin jets. I would up selecting a 98 main because that's the biggest one I had close to stock and it was smaller than the one that was in there.
So...
98 main 3rd clip 1.5 turns out- too lean
98 main 3rd clip 2 turns out- good at idle, but midrange issues
98 main 4th clip 2 turns out- slight issue with midrange

It seems be spot on with 1/2 choke. I'm going to raise the needle all the way then look to increase the size of the main jet. It's close. I wish I had the 100-107's from my other jet kit!

I tried all I could with the 98, so I put the stock 105 back in and it was still lean.

For the hell of it I put the next size I had which was a 120. I put the needle down to the 2nd notch from the top and wouldn't you know--it worked good. It's in the ball park now and I'll try it out on in the dirt this weekend.

I have the UNI filter for reference and lice at sea level. The pilot is around 2.25 turns out.

I think this carb is a 24 MM the same as a 200X so the jetting with an aftermarket air filter would be similar.

Final update..the 112.5 main works best w/ the UNI filter and 24mm carb. Clip 3rd position and stock exhaust.

I took it out today and rode it for 4 hrs. I'm very pleased. It's spot on with 112.5 main and 3rd clip. I turned the pilot screw until the rpms went up a bit and left it. Mine has the oiled UNI filter and that makes the difference for the jetting. With the standard jet there was some serious detonation from being too lean. So 2-3 up on the main jet for an aftermarket filter, which is the basic rule of thumb for street bikes too.

Hope this helps others as there are tons of 185's and 200's out there with carb issues.

That's great info,I was wondering on some of these carb's.i used one on an'83 XL 185S Honda Dirtbike a couple week's ago and figured it to be a bit rich as stock with the 105 and I had to go to a 115 and 4th clip position for any good response.It was a bear but I got it really close,but that was a 185 cc stock.I am amazed that they come out so lean,meaning the carb's,there alway's like 10 off usually on the lean end and that's with 3 clip's down up here in Mi. anyway's.but I'm still experimenting with them too.

Yep, I think they can be tuned very well in about a day. I have the rebuild kit in for my original carb, but I'll leave the ebay carb in and refurbish the original as a spare.
I have a bit more top end with the larger carb.
