Is there an easy way to put a piston circlip in?

I'm getting really frustrated, the first one went in no problem, but now that i have it on my rod, it does not want to go in ... i've got the circlip on my lip, but i'm about to throw it across the yard... any ideas?

I've never had much of a problem using a small straight screwdriver. I think they are harder to get out than to put in.

I put one end in the groove, use my thumb to hold it there.
Then I use a Test light probe in the little cut out on the piston, to help feed the other end in, while working my thumb around to guid the other half in the piston groove.
    JUST... DONT BEND THE CIRCLIP.
Also a piece of duct tape on the started end of circlip taping it to the piston, helps keep that baby from shooting across the shop.
After you have done a hundred of them, they get easier...
    But they still suck..LOL
Here is where my long useless list of stuff nobody cares about should go...

cut off ice pick to get them out,, and a screwdriver with a tiny groove in it close to one side,,rag around the rod under the piston.

I put one end of the clip in the opening thats in the piston (not just the groove) and hold it with my thumb.

Then I PUSH the ring in with a small blunt object, I don't PRY it in, thats how you over extend and bend the clip

SAFETY GLASSES! Won't help get it in but saves your eyes when they go winging across the shop.
