Government regulating economy, yes or no?

so i have been arguing with this assclown of a liberal who believes wholeheartedly that government regulations on all businesses to "prevent collapses like GM" is not only a good idea, but should have been done years ago. He thinks government regulation will also eliminate bad times, and keep the times good perpetually......dumb-s&%t.......

he argues that free market is flawed in this aspect, and that "head up guys" use it to get rich at the expense of everyone else.

while i can agree with that to a point, isnt it in the CEO's best interest to run a company as efficiently as possible because they will make MORE money with a successful company than if they run it into the ground? he doesnt seem to think so.




so, what are you guy's thoughts? should the government step in, act as "big brother" and regulate business's and thus, the economy, or should it have just left well enough alone and kept out period?

One good point, If you chase out all other competition, your prices can skyrocket after.

One or ten bad points, As a NON yes a NON smoker, I think its completely retarded our government can say no smoking in my place of business. I understand people dont want to eat in a smoke filled restraunt, so just DO NOT eat there. you want a choice, go accross the street. I watched 4 business close because of the smoking ban. Where are all the non smokers who faught so hard when all them employees are put out of work? And yes at least one went public showing records of how business was affected.

My kids may not be allowed to say "under god" in the pledge of allegiance in school. It offends other religions. Every religion I can think of has A God of some sort. It offends me that my kids have to learn history how a bunch of illegal immagrants see fit so they are not offended.


Point being, there is good and bad to the whole thing, but the fact is every year we are losing more and more rights to the whole big brother thing. I see it all as one thing today....gone. Tomorrow another privilege gone and so on and so on. I am against most of the ass bag ideas these idiots put into place and all my rights are are being thrown out the window so some dumb illegal immagrant can be happy. TO HELL WITH BIG BROTHER GOVERNMENT. The only concern is taxes going up, gold toilet seats and a fat bonus check every year. If GM fails it didnt do it over night. It takes years. dont cry for help after 5 years of stupid decisions. My disabled mother cant get help to get medicine essential to her staying alive but a bank who takes a private jet and stays in a 5 diamond hotel can get a handout. In the last 20 years our priorities took a plummet.

ARTICLE VII: You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won't have the right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure.

ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right to a job. All of us sure want you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful.

ARTICLE IX: You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness, which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of Rights.

ARTICLE X: This is an English speaking country. We don't care where you are from, English is our language. Learn it or go back to wherever you came from! (lastly....) NOW..

ARTICLE XI: You do not have the right to change our country's history or heritage. This country was founded on the belief in one true God. And yet, you are given the freedom to believe in any religion, any faith, or no faith at all; with no fear of persecution. The phrase IN GOD WE TRUST is part of our heritage and history, and if you are uncomfortable with it, TOUGH!!!!

Always loved the Bill Of Non-Rights...

Sure wish the big shots in DC and in the banking industry(not your local teller....the BIG boys) were bound by Article 7. We'd have a lot less problems.

Well put, but I'll add that I haven't said the Pledge in over 12 years. Not because of the mention of God, who should be recognized, but because of the word "indivisible". The Constitution would have never been ratified had that word been used to describe what they understood to be a voluntary "union".
