I'm gonna make a trike like this for my boy he is 10

Probablly not what you thought but he won't get pulled over riding this through the nieghborhood! We are gonna do this as low budget as possible, and hopefully he will learn a lot. I'll keep you posted on the progress.

Step 1. Find a donor 20" bike for parts.
Step 2. Find an old shopping cart for caster wheels

looks cool, but wont it be pretty awkward to steer in corners with the pedals pivoting independently from your body and so far out? might not be as bad as it looks.

Here are some videos of weird bikes. Some of them are pretty cool. The one I want to build is called the spin cycle. Of course I will modify their design and make it my own.
