An ElKa will work as Kintore has one on his 250R. Jason Hall is actually selling a kit to mount upside down forks off of a newer 80 on the front of the 250R. It gives you adjustable front suspension.

Here is a link for Kintores addition of the usd forks and Jason Halls info to pm him.

PEP does a "Guts" kit for the stock shocks for $350 that gives just as good as performance as a $900 full aftermarket shock in my opinion.

Here's an Idea, I just mounted up a 18.5" YFZ450 shock with Stock 06-09 450r linkage to my 85 250r. I have learned over the last couple years, that the linkage on the new TRX450 Is not what limits the travel of the rear suspension. You can run a longer shock and get every bit of 12" of travel In the back. The reason most aftermarket company's make differnt linkage setups for the trx450R, Is because they CAN'T move the top shock mount UP. So they move It down and back. I have modded the top shock mounting location on both my Aluminum 450, and now this 85 R. I LOVE AXIS Shock's, and have worked with a Very Smart guy at Axis named Steve to get the valving set up NICE.

Here's a couple pic's of my setup. Sorry to get slightly off the point here, but the TRX parts are easy to find Cheaply, and as long as your dedicated to gaining suspension & not afraid to mod your frame this setup works SWEET!!!
